The relationship between adidas and Neighborhood is one with more than a decade of history. The heartbeat of Neighborhood is Shinsuke Takizawa, whose first recollections of adidas date back to the 1980s, when Run–D.M.C. made him aware of the iconic brand. "Sneakers became a fashion item" he explains, "It was all quite shocking!" Fast-forward to 2005, and the first marker for a fruitful relationship was put down when Takizawa and adidas worked on the Corsortium project, creating a version of the Superstars favored by the aforementioned hop-hop trio. The partnership has grown from there, with Takizawa's cousin Kazuki Kuraishi also making his mark. It's a long-term relationship based on mutual respect for product, innovation and reputation. adidas has always admired Neighborhood and their story and held an appreciation for Shinsuke Takizawa's attention to detail, craftsmanship and sources of inspiration. "Creating a design that does not already exist was the original concept when we first worked together" says Shinsuke. "And still today, that same concept is at the core of our collaboration"
