On August 10 and 11 adidas invites international stars from the bouldering and sport climbing scene to a second edition of adidas ROCKSTARS, this time at the Porsche Arena in Stuttgart/Germany. The elite line-up will compete for this year's title in an exciting boulder battle, spurred on by live music.

The event focuses on the athletes. For the second year the 'Who's Who' of the World Cup bouldering and climbing scene are again set to make an appearance. Famous names include World Champion and last year's winner Dmitry Sharafutdinov (RUS), the reigning Overall World Champion Sasha DiGiulian (USA), the two-times Boulder Overall World Cup Champion Akiyo Noguchi (JPN) and top athletes like Rustam Gelmanov (RUS), Juliane Wurm (GER), Guillaume Glairon Mondet (FRA), Alex Puccio (USA), Alexey Rubstov (RUS), Katharina Saurwein (AUT), Jonas Baumann (GER) and Mélissa Le Nevé (FRA).

Boulder battle with live music
The seventy invited athletes (40 men and 30 women) battle through the qualifying round to win a place in the semi-final of the top 20, who then compete for one of the six places in the final. During the final on Saturday evening the two best women and two top men will eventually emerge from the six. In the super final these two men and two women finalists duel on the same challenge without being able to see each other; all they can hear is the reaction of the crowd. The fastest athlete to reach the top first is the winner of adidas ROCKSTARS 2012. What's special is that the bouldering athletes and the spectators will be motivated by a live band during the competition with the music matching the atmosphere to drive them to top performance. And that's what the professionals will be looking for. Reinhard Fichtinger, Laurent Laporte, Matthias Woitzuck and Chris Danielson will be bolting some challenging, varied and creative routes.

Amateur competition: GORE-TEX Be a Rockstar
Amateurs also have an opportunity to show what they can do. On Friday they will be bouldering eight different problems in a jam session with DJs as part of the 'GORE-TEX Be a Rockstar' competition to win a wildcard for the professional event. The three best men and women also enter the final of the amateur competition, where on Saturday they bolt their own boulders with professional athletes with whom they then go head-to-head on the rock. A maximum of 100 participants (women and men) will be admitted to the amateur competition. You can secure a starting place online at .

Live music show
Several of the world's best human beatboxers will be performing during the 'GORE-TEX Be a Rockstar' final, including Germany's most well-known beatboxer Robeat, born and bred in Stuttgart. Right after that comes the Austrian newcomer band The Beth Edges to lead up to the adidas ROCKSTARS final, which will be accompanied by the Swiss rockband Sideburn. The headline act takes the stage after the final for the Myspace Music Battle: band vs. beatboxer vs. DJ, before the celebrations move on to the aftershow party.
