Arizona State & adidas Unveil New 'Be The Hammer' Alternate Football Uniforms
Inspired by the team's tradition of using a sledge hammer emblazoned with the pitchfork to break a rock after big accomplishments (finishing training camp, wins, etc.), the 'Be The Hammer' alternate uniform is centered around a steel gray color scheme that represents the head of the team's ceremonial hammer. The entire all-gray look is accentuated with polished copper detailing, which pays homage to the state's nickname and recognition as the "Copper State."
To highlight the Sun Devils' iconic identity, the helmet and pants feature an oversized polished copper version of the pitchfork logo with black outlines, while the numbers, lettering and pitchfork-influenced spike stripes on the shoulder pads are featured in polished copper with metallic gray and onyx outlines. Providing form and function, the metallic letters and numbers are created from a stretch material, allowing for maximum ventilation and flexibility.
Made with a cutting-edge, proprietary yarn blend that increases durability and abrasion resistance, Primeknit is the premier compression uniform system, featuring the latest generation of adidas TECHFIT technology. Primeknit helps keep players cool and increases range of motion, giving athletes an unrivaled level of comfort and allowing them to perform at their highest levels. The jersey's padlock system secures tension over the shoulder pads, while the bodymap fit adheres to the player, making it difficult for opponents to grab, hold or tackle.
The nod to the team's tradition of breaking the rock continues with the TECHFIT baselayer which features a graphic with the words "Be The" and a photo-real image of the team's ceremonial hammer. Additionally, the copper theme continues with and the adizero 5-Star 4.0 gloves, featuring an oversized graphic of Arizona's state flag. The adizero 5-Star 4.0 gloves feature 4-way stretch mesh for compression fit and GripTack 2.0 for consistent control in all weather conditions.
