RUN THRU TIME with adidas Originals
The pack of nine shoes takes three iconic running silhouettes – the ZXZ ADV from the 80s; the ZX 5000 Response from the 90s; and the Adizeros Adios 2 from the 00s – and expresses each of them in three colourways. Celebrating the international launch, adidas Originals has teamed up with South African filmmaker Chris Saunders to represent this execution through a 3-part series of short films to be launched in three stages, and released at events in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban.
The first launch took place last night in Cape Town, highlighting the 80s execution based on the classic mesh, vintage suede and reflective stripes look and feel. Taking inspiration from the legendary ZX 500, which was adidas' flagship distance running shoe when it was debuted back in the mid-80s, the ZXZ ADV finds Kazuki Kuraishi forging a signature ZX trainer of his own for the Originals 84-Lab range. The renowned designer once again utilises the impeccable tooling seen in his Spring/Summer '09 and '10 ObyO collection. This tried and tested design merges an almost mountain boot-like upper with the ZX 500 OG upper that was created for the Consortium re-release.
More details per decade, 90s and 00s, will be released closer to the drop dates. The RUN THRU TIME Range will be available only at: adidas Originals Own Retail, a store is good (Cape Town), Shelflife (Cape Town), AREA3 (Johannesburg) and SOHO (Durban), and only 429 pairs are available countrywide.
