FW20 TENNIS COLLECTION: DESIGNED TO KEEP PLAYERS COOL AS ELITE COMPETITION RETURNS

Ahead of the much-anticipated return of elite tennis competition, to equip athletes with the latest performance apparel to stay cool as they take to the court, we are revealing our Fall/Winter 20 Tennis collection. 

Featuring bold prints and graphics, the collection’s aesthetic is inspired by adidas’ rich heritage at the renowned east-coast tournament where so many of its former champions from the 70s and 80s enjoyed success. Iconic prints worn from this era, have been translated into fresh, modern styles, with accents of bold signal pink, haze coral and metallic copper to reflect the vibrancy of the tournament, as players prepare to compete on the world’s stage once again.

The colourful design can be seen across the full range of eight apparel looks designed for elite male and female players.

Boasting performance features that go beyond function to help players beat the heat on court this summer, each of the garments have been created using HEAT.RDY technology - a system of sweat-wicking textiles and intuitive designs engineered to protect athletes and keep them feeling cool.

Using these materials and zoned ventilation, the apparel is designed to optimize performance when the heat rises this summer, enabling players to stay confident, focused, and ready to compete.

Beyond player performance, the collection is also designed with an eye on adidas’ commitment to end plastic waste. Within the collection - which features products with high-performance fabrics with varying integration of recycled polyester - is three pieces of PRIMEGREEN apparel, a material which uses no virgin plastic. These pieces include; T.M TANK HEAT.RDY, FLIFT POLO HEAT.RDY and FLIF SOLID T HEAT.RDY. PRIMEGREEN plays a significant role both in adidas reaching more than 50% total volume of recycled polyester at the end of 2020, and its ambition to only use recycled polyester in all products across the business by 2024.

The apparel collection is complimented by two updated footwear silhouettes, engineered for a game where there are no substitutes to performance integrity.

Offering two options to suit specific player styles, the collection introduces the adidas SoleCourt, featuring a TPU chassis, midfoot torsion bar, BOOST midsole, and 3D heel counter for extra durability, stability, and comfort. The SoleCourt silhouette features PRIMEBLUE, a high-performance recycled material made in part with Parley Ocean Plastic.

Meanwhile, the Ubersonic 2 is built for ultimate acceleration and agility with its reactive, lightweight EVA midsole, breathable net mesh upper, and lightweight sprintframe construction. Both silhouettes are available in hard and clay court outsoles.

The FW20 collection, will be worn by athletes including Garbiñe Muguruza, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Maria Sakkari, Alexander Zverev, and Dominic Thiem. The collection is available now on adidas.com and via the adidas app.
