ULTRABOOSTS OF TOMORROW: ALL NEW DROPS TO HELP END PLASTIC WASTE

  • 20-APR-2021

Today we are announcing the launch of a new series of Ultraboost drops to coincide with Earth Week, as part of our continued commitment to help end plastic waste and address the devastating levels ofplastic pollutionin the oceans.

The four new Ultraboost drops each feature their own innovation and encompass the idea of creating a product ‘for the future’ with sustainability at the forefront.

First in the series is the Ultraboost Made to be Remade, which drops on April 22nd as a Creators Club exclusive.

Designed within the framework of our circular loop with materials and technology that enables the shoes to be ran down and returned to adidas to be remade into something new.

The shoes are designed to come back to us at the end of their life and feature a prominent QR code which can be scanned with a smartphone to open a digital experience where the returns process can be easily accessed.

The intention from us is to develop further Made To Be Remade products which invite the wearer into the experience and drive this circular relationship.

The next drops made in collaboration with Parley for the Oceans arrive on April 24th with the Ultraboost 21 x Parley and Ultraboost 6.0 DNA x Parley editions.

The Ultraboost 21 x Parley is a performance running shoe with sustainability at its core. Designed to bring energy to people to drive positive change and self-betterment, the Ultraboost 21 x Parley are shoes made for comfort and the future of the oceans.

Featuring Ultraboost 21’s key technological innovations such as optimized BOOST for the perfect mix of support and comfort and the new ‘Linear Energy Push’ system, which increases forefoot bending stiffness, the shoe also features a Forged Primeknit upper made in part with Primeblue, a high-performance recycled yarn containing 50% Parley Ocean Plastic which is upcycled plastic waste intercepted on beaches and coastal communities, preventing it from polluting the oceans.

The Ultraboost 6.0 DNA x Parley features the iconic Ultraboost silhouette with an upper made of adidas Primeknit, which is once again created in part with Primeblue, while the cage and heel counter are made of a layered material consisting of recycled plastics and 20% of which comes from reprocessed end of life fishing nets. The precision-made, seamless zones combine strength and performance with smooth comfort to ensure distraction-free movement.

The last Earth Week drop is the Ultraboost 6.0 DNA on April 27th and this has two new classic designs for women and men.

Ultraboosts of Tomorrow represent a bold statement from us to drive innovation around materials, products, and new ways of using them with the goal of helping to end plastic waste.

These Ultraboost alone won't save our oceans, but they will get us one step closer.
