adidas’ list of talented young golfers representing the brand continues to grow. Today, adidas announced the signing of one of the world’s best young golfers, Michael Thorbjornsen, to a multi-year contract that will see him wearing adidas apparel, footwear, and accessories on the course as a professional.

The three-time All-American who reached as high as No. 2 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings capped off his final collegiate season by finishing first in the 2024 PGA Tour University Ranking. As a result, Thorbjornsen receives full membership status on the PGA Tour for the remainder of the 2024 and 2025 PGA Tour seasons. He becomes the fourth winner of the Ranking, following in the footsteps of fellow adidas athlete Ludvig Åberg, currently ranked No. 6 in the world.

“I’m extremely proud of what I’ve been able to accomplish as an amateur and look forward to representing the 3-Stripes in this next step as a professional,” said Thorbjornsen. “I’ve had a very close relationship with the brand and have worn adidas in some of my biggest events as an amateur, so I’m excited to continue wearing these great products as I compete at the next level.”

Thorbjornsen closes out a remarkable amateur career where he won the prestigious Western Amateur; won both the individual and team Pac-12 Men’s Golf Championship; and finished with a total of three career collegiate victories. He also had an extremely successful junior career, winning the U.S. Junior Amateur in 2018 and becoming the second youngest golfer in history to make the cut at the 2019 U.S. Open.

“Michael has shown over the last several years why he’s one of the best young players in the world,” said Jeff Lienhart, president, adidas Golf. “He’s an amazing athlete with a bright future ahead and we look forward to supporting him with the best apparel and footwear as he takes the stage as a professional.”

Thorbjornsen joins a stellar roster of young adidas athletes that includes former men’s and women’s No. 1-ranked amateur golfers, Ludvig Åberg, Nick Dunlap and Rose Zhang.

Thorbjornsen makes his professional debut this week at the Travelers Championship.
