Ten-day multi-sport human rights and cultural event will bring together LGBTQI and LGBTQI-friendly athletes and fans from around the world
PORTLAND, Ore. / MIAMI, April 26, 2017 – adidas today announced a collaborative partnership with World OutGames Miami 2017, a 10-day, multi-sport human rights and cultural event from May 26 to June 4, 2017. Making its U.S. debut, the event will welcome LGBTQI athletes from more than 40 countries, many where homosexuality remains illegal and hidden. In the spirit of inclusiveness, the World OutGames are open to all, regardless of gender identity and sexual orientation.

Athletes will arrive at World OutGames Miami ready to challenge themselves physically and mentally in a variety of sports. With skill levels ranging from beginner to competitive, the roster of sporting events includes basketball, track and field, running, soccer, bodybuilding, field hockey, swimming, tennis, triathlon, volleyball and more.
World OutGames Miami will feature the fourth Global LGBTQI Human Rights Conference from May 26 to 29, an exchange of powerful ideas among internationally respected human rights activists, researchers, legal scholars and trade organizations. World OutGames Miami features an array of cultural events including art exhibits, history tours, a poetry reading with renowned poet Robert Pinsky and a film festival. On June 1, Pulse Points, an artistic response to the Orlando massacre at Pulse Nightclub, will fuse dance, music, poetry and visual arts to honor the 49 lives lost.

While adidas has always celebrated individuality and fostered fairness, the brand in 2016 formally added a clause to its athlete contracts underscoring its commitment to its partners regardless of gender identity and sexual orientation. adidas creates special-edition footwear and apparel that draws inspiration from the rainbow flag, a symbol of hope and pride for the LGBTQI community. The brand has celebrated pride across its most notable franchises including Stan Smith and Superstar.
