RECREATING ONCE AGAIN WITH PART TWO OF OUR COLLABORATIVE COLLECTION WITH YARA SHAHIDI

On the heels of celebrating the warm reception to the first part of their collaborative collection, adidas Originals and Yara Shahidi return this month to present an expanded offering of carefully considered apparel and footwear pieces. Building on the collection’s ethos of ReCreation, the American actress, Harvard student, executive producer, and change agent, has once again brought her distinctly global perspective to a suite of timeless looks, infusing each item with inspiration from her personal heritage.

The second part of the collaboration sees Yara update two timeless adidas Originals silhouettes with details that simultaneously celebrate and recontextualise her roots. Poignantly blending two iconic adidas runners, the Yara Shahidi Boston Super x Marathon sneaker features a green suede and mesh upper matched with yellow laces and stripes. Meanwhile, the Yara Shahidi Campus sneaker reimagines the creative multi-hyphenate’s Iranian and African-American heritage through a delicate floral pattern printed onto a tonal soft leather upper. Both of the carefully considered silhouettes are set off by the elegant inclusion of metal lace jewels, gold foil heel details, and Yara’s name on the lateral stripes. Rounding out the footwear offering, each pair is completed with “yar”, a derivation of Yara’s name meaning ‘friend’, embroidered in Persian lettering on the right tongue.                                                                    

Moving to apparel, the collection also features a number of striking looks inspired by 1960s aesthetics. First up, a green floral patterned satin jumpsuit ReCreates the visual language of the past for today. Next, a matching seersucker shirt and shorts set is made up in both a green floral print and a tasteful yellow colorway. Yara then once again brings her inimitable lens to the classic adidas tracksuit, reimagining the quintessential look in a green and yellow colorway.  Meanwhile, a luxurious yellow velvet hoodie is given a bold graphic print reading: “who are we if not each other.” Completing the suite of apparel pieces, Yara offers her take on the timeless white graphic T-shirt, elevating it with the inclusion of “global community” printed beneath an embroidered Trefoil.

Building on the visual language of the first drop, the second part of the collection is also accompanied by a continuation of the striking campaign that features an emphatic cast of ReCreationists including Duckwrth, Andrea Thomas, Dora Owusu, and Yara herself.                                                               

Part two of the adidas Originals by Yara Shahidi collaborative collection launches exclusively in North America on June 23rd through adidas.com, CONFIRMED, and select retailers.
