adidas Football today unveiled the evolution of the lightest cleat in football with the introduction of the adizero 5-Star 7.0 Primeknit. Reengineered and redesigned for football’s fastest players, the adizero Primeknit takes the football cleat silhouette to the next level by incorporating a sneaker profile and redefining fit, feel and lightweight construction.
Bringing sneaker style and insights from the streets to the gridiron, the adizero Primeknit has an all-new refined shape that is sculpted to be aerodynamic and wrap around the foot in order to provide a sock-like feel. Inspired by innovations from the adidas Running Uncaged UltraBOOST and adidas Originals NMD silhouettes, the adizero Primeknit utilizes a one-piece bootie construction that is engineered to naturally move with the foot on the field, allow for flexibility and movement through the ankle, and help provide a comfortable, precision fit with maximum breathability.
Speed is omnidirectional. Taking Insight from athletes, adidas created speed-spat seam tape in an X-band formation to help deliver a lockdown sensation with zoned support for enhanced acceleration, making cuts, changing direction and stopping on a dime. Additionally, the Primeknit upper is seamlessly blended with a lightweight, TPU toecap to help provide structure for lateral movements, durability and support, while an anatomical lacing system aligns to the bones of the foot for added comfort.
Weighing in at just a mere 8.6 oz., a full ounce lighter than the competition, the adizero Primeknit feels like a natural extension of the foot. The comfortable yet durable upper is powered by a metallic electroplated SRPINTFRAME with strategically placed SPRINTSTUDS with a rotational traction zone that is designed to provide peak performance, multi-directional strength and unrivaled traction.
At the forefront of innovation, design and craftsmanship, the adizero Primeknit features a speed of light graphic pattern that is woven into the Primeknit upper to symbolize speed and movement. The finishing touches include adidas’ iconic three-stripes emblazoned at the toe cap of the cleats, the adidas Badge of Sport logo at the arch of the medial side of the cleats and a new “adizero” moniker dons the back pulltab and the sockliner.
