adidas Football today unveiled the evolution of compression uniform system with the new Primeknit A1 Football Uniform, which will make its on-field debut at the 2018 Army All-American Bowl on Saturday, January 6th, at 1pm EST on NBC. With an emphasis on full range of motion, fit, form and function, the Primeknit A1 Football Uniform redefines the compression silhouette and takes the innovation and design for football jerseys and pants to the next level.
A new body-mapping jersey design features an all-new ribbed knit pattern on the chest and shoulder pads to produce a refined fit, while knit engineered mesh channels feature Climacool technology to provide enhanced breathability and cooling zones. The development of a new innovative chevron pattern on the chest of the jersey aligns with a player’s shoulder pads and generates increased durability and protection for high-contact zones, while the inside of the jersey features silicon grip patterns on the shoulders to lock pads in place.
Additionally, Primeknit finishes that were inspired by the adidas UltraBOOST and NMD are incorporated into the collar, sleeve cuff and hem for added comfort and a new infinity neckline delivers for a clean, iconic design that eliminates distractions and allows for a full range of motion. The revolutionary Primeknit A1 football pants have been re-engineered with just two seams and feature bonded pockets for added comfort and a clean compression look and feel. Additionally, the pants are equipped with ribbed Primeknit on the knees for added durability.
Inspired by standard issue U.S. Army physical training (PT) gray t-shirts with “ARMY” across the chest, along with an overspray stencil technique found on military vehicles and equipment, the 2018 Army All-American Bowl uniforms infuse the iconic overspray technique onto the jerseys and pants to highlight player numbers and U.S. Army All-American moniker on the chest, as well as the stripes on the pants. Additional U.S. Army inspired design elements include the traditional military uniform nametape with player names on the right side of the chest and the U.S. Flag patch on the right arm.
The color palette features the traditional black and gold U.S. Army colors, black representing knowledge and gold signifying achievement and honor, in order to create a signature look for the 2018 U.S. Army All-American Bowl. The West team will wear gold and the East team will be in black. To complete the head-to-toe package, both squads will don special edition gray and black adizero 5-Star 7.0 Primeknit cleats. Bringing sneaker style and insights from the streets to the gridiron, the adizero Primeknit cleats feature an all-new refined shape that is sculpted to be aerodynamic and wrap around the foot to provide a sock-like feel.
The new adidas Primeknit A1 Football Uniforms are at the forefront of design and innovation, providing players the perfect blend of style and technology for elite performance. The new adidas Primeknit A1 Football Uniforms will be featured on several adidas collegiate programs for the 2018-19 season, including Arizona State, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Kansas, Louisville, Miami, Mississippi State, Nebraska, North Carolina State, Rutgers and Texas A&M.
